WORLD PASSWORD DAY, First Thursday in May
What is World Password Day?
Every first Thursday in May, we talk about password safety.
Passwords guard your digital life—banking, shopping, social media, work email, everything. A weak password is like leaving your front door wide open.
Why it matters
In our online world, strong passwords are your first line of defense. Hackers don’t need to break into your house. They just need to guess your password.
Long, unique, and complex passwords keep your personal data safe. And if you think an account was hacked, change that password right away.
How to celebrate World Password Day
Take the #WorldPasswordDay pledge and try these simple steps:
1. Update old passwords – Make them long and strong. Mix letters, numbers, and symbols.
2. Turn on two-factor authentication – It adds a second check, like a code sent to your phone.
3. Protect your Wi-Fi– Set a password on your wireless router.
4. Don’t save passwords on your device – Use a password manager instead.
5. Log out when you’re done with programs and accounts.
6. Clear temporary internet files regularly to remove stored data.

The bottom line

On World Password Day, take 5 minutes. Update one password. Turn on two-factor authentication. Your future self will thank you.
