WAELE AFRICA Seminar Empowers Youth on Puberty, Peer Groups, and Responsibility
The one day Seminar organized by the WAELE AFRICA Foundation in Deidei district, FCT Abuja on 8th June 2024, was a resounding success, and thanks to the efforts of the Admin Secretary, Mrs Bridget Ojo Samuel. The theme of the Seminar, "The Role Of Peer Group And Puberty Stage In Adolescence," was carefully chosen to address important issues that affect the younger generation in our communities.
Mrs Bridget Samuel took the opportunity to educate the children below 15 years of age on the meaning of puberty and adolescence, and the importance of peer groups during these formative years. By highlighting the significance of these stages of life, she hoped to instill a sense of responsibility and discipline in the young participants, as well as provide them with valuable knowledge and guidance as they navigate through this period of transition.
During the Seminar, Mrs Bridget Samuel engaged the children in thought-provoking discussions and posed important questions to stimulate their thinking and understanding of the topics at hand. The children had the opportunity to learn about the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty, as well as the cognitive and psychosocial changes that accompany adolescence.
The discussion on peer influence shed light on the positive and negative effects that peers can have on an individual's life. By emphasizing the importance of surrounding oneself with supportive and positive peers, Mrs Bridget Samuel encouraged the children to choose their friends wisely and to seek out relationships that add value to their lives.
The event was not only educational but also interactive, with books being shared and presented to the participants. This was made possible by the support of Princess Jummai, the WAELE Secretary General, who helped to facilitate the distribution of resources that would further enrich the children's understanding of the topics discussed.
As the Seminar came to a close, prayers were offered for the peace and stability of Africa as a continent, as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the WAELE AFRICA Foundation. The hope is that through events such as these, the Foundation can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in communities across the country, Africa and the whole world, promoting awareness, education, and empowerment for a better future.
